I am finally replacing my AMD XP3000+ system and I need a little help deciphering Crossfire.

These are on there way and should be here by Tuesday.
Intel Pentium D 945 Presler 3.4GHz
ABIT AW8D
CORSAIR XMS2 1GB (2 x 512MB)
eVGA GeForce 7300GT


I went with the 945 because I won’t be doing any overclocking. I tossed in that 7300gt because I needed something to use until I figure out this crossfire stuff.
I’m not a hardcore gamer, with my XP3000+ and 9550 video card I couldn’t be, but I want to get into more advanced games.

I think I’m going to go with 2 X1650XT cards but I’m a bit confused about what cards work with what and how they connect. The 1650xt cards I looked at don’t come with anyway to connect them to each other, no internal bridge or external cable.It looks like I just need 2 1650xt cards and 2 crossfire bridges to get Crossfire on my 975x board. My motherboard comes with an SLI bridge which I assume is a crossfire bridge.

I am looking at these 3 cards but only the HIS one comes with the crossfire bridge.

HOLY SHIT

You didn't do your research did you? You've bought an out of date processor and a motherboard because it was a combo deal. SLI and Crossfire are two very different things so there not cross-compatible. Instead of wasting a money on a x1650xt cf setup get an x1950xt instead for $250: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16814102067 it's cheaper and alot faster than 2x1650xt's will ever be.
 
I was going to buy a Pentium D regardless of the combo deal. Umm the Pentium may be last generation but it is in no means “outdated” And where else can I get a Dual core at 3.4g out of the box for $164? As stated I will not be overclocking.

I know SLI and Crossfire are different. The board supports crossfire but if you look and the included equipment it says it comes with an SLI bridge and retention bracket.
