Does anyone know of a good firewire card?

Quite the kickass system, man. My only question is how much did it tally?

And yes, you can swap the CPU. Both are the Socket 478.

I'm fairly jealous, but not that much because your system will be considered outdated within a few short weeks, thanks to the depreciation element that IS the computer market. :D

That is a ridiculous system (in price); a P4EE AND a Sony F520? That's already around $2500 there alone.

Are you gonna OC? I dunno much about the Abit IC7 Max 3, though I do hear people have problems with it (not sure what kind). I only use an IC7-G myself.

Also, why do you need a firewire card? The board comes with firewire.

Nice system though.

where do you live so i can use my Marine Corps techniques and kill you and steal your computer.... :p

I do need the 500w and total without the monitor is $3,767. So far I'm looking for the cheapest place for the F520. Btw, your Marine Corps techniques will not work. This is an Army house.:D

But I don't plan on OCing it. I just want a nice cool, quiet, manly rig.

Are you sure it comes with Firewire? I just looked and didn't see it.

well, the good news is, you WILL get 20k in 3dmark:D
the bad news is, you couldve spent half the price on your CPU and gotten half the RAM but faster RAM to achieve it

i like it anywho though, i wish i had taht kind of money:(

Ok, my mistake, it does come with the Firewire. Thanks guys, I'm placing the order tonight.

Will you be using stock hsf? there isn't one listed...

I suggest the Zalman CNPS7000-Cu for silent goodness

If I was spending 3700 on a computer, I sure as hell would be waiting for the 3.4/3.6 prescott at least, also mabey for the newer motherboards coming out.

And like said before, 1 gig of faster ram.

the retail heat sink is nice, if you want a quieter solution, go with a thermal right heatsink and a smart fan 2, hard set it around 3700 rpm's

i use an 800u and a smartfan 2, i can barely hear it, and it keeps my 3.2 @ 36c max

and the other poster was right, if you're not over clocking, the intel boards are rock solid

i have an 865perlk and it runs quite well

Btw guys, I'm gonna water-cool this rig. And should I go with a stock Radeon 9800 XT by ATI? Or go for an Asus or another one? Because that too will be water-cooled.

wow- what a huge waste of money, but hey if you've got it... why not. I'd keep the 9800 XT if anything, if you downgrade.

suffice to say the rig u got set up there is sick, but why waste money on useless things like extreme edition cpu, it doesnt really change much except the price, also no need for an xt video card, stardard 9800 pro is good enough and cheaper and if u water cool just bump up its clock a bit...save urself some cash

That is some nice uber stuff. high cost stuff, but I would say go for it if you have the bucks.

I think the EE is a bit of a waste of money. but if you can afford it go for it :)

M audio sound card is much better than audigy. remember, just because they sell more does not make them better (see top 40 and mcdognads) If you want a quiet system you may as well have a sound card with low distortion and noise to enjoy it with :)
