Not sure that link works for others, but oh well.

I am looking at a small MP3 player to use while running, bike riding, hiking, and while at work. I like the size of the creatives and their ability to record voice and radio, and two of them can be used as USB pendrives.

My question is out of these three which is more suitable? I read all the opinions on NewEgg and Amazon, but still just like more opinions.

And does anyone know of some places that actually sell Creative stuff? Cause BB doesn't down here, and i would really like to look/play/feel one before I buy it.


And another question, what do you mean by playlist exactly? I am very new to the whole MP3 player scene, up till now I have just used a minidisc (old school minidisc) were whatever you put on there played in that order, unless you put it on shuffle, I just assumed MP3 players were the same, you built a file list then put it on the player and it worked like a CD or minidisc, am I wrong? I dont really know what a 'playlist' is, that is sad. ANd I call myself and engineer.

Muvo TX FM's have a little static buzz sound whenever the backlight is lit (ie whenever you press a button) that lasts a few seconds. It's a hardware issue, I'm sure but people still buy it. My mom enjoys hers just fine.
 
A playlist just allows you to order them. You're right many small players out there go in the order you put them in and all you can do is shuffle, but with 512mb of songs this gets inadequate. My player plays in alphabetical order from the internal drives root directory and then enters file folders in alphabetical order, to play those files in alphabetical order.

I was thinking of naming a bunch of file folders "01", "02", "03" and so on so I can force the damn thing to playthe 40 or so minutes I want while I'm on the treadmill. For now I just put everything in root and shuffle. Shuffle becomes its only mode of play for me. Think about it. For me the damn thing will want to play everything Alice in Chains, then everything Biggie, etc. I like a little variety in my workout not MTV rock blocks etc.


I really wish it had this one thing. I like how tiny and light the things are. I think they have RIO players that are similar only they CAN make playlists. I dont regret not getting the uber capacity spinning drive type players at all (Ipods etc.)

Yes, the LCD static has been 'fixed' they say by a firmware upgrade. I know many products that have this issue due to unexpect or uncompinsated EMF created by the LCDs. Heck, there are a ton of cell phones that have this issue. They just blame the static on the tower and such.

I will see if I can find one with playlist creation, cause yea, I dont want to hear them in alphabetical that would suck.

One other question though, at 512MB, about how many songs can you put on there?

I saw there was a firmware fix for that.

Newegg had the 256MB version for $79 so I bit. I just need one for the gym so I don't need perfect sound quality anyway. I'm usually too distracted staring at boobies to notice. :p
 
I need to find your gym. I must revert to running in a park near bye, only hotties there are the younger soccer moms, and they only going running in the AM, while I am at work. Oh well.

So either the muvo micro, or the TX FM would be an alright option. I wondered about that flat one, and they say its the size of a credit card, it doesn't have an arm band though, but does have a rechargable battery.

The latest firmware didn't fix the static problem on my 256mb Muvo. I also got it from Newegg. I checked out the CreativeLab forums and there was some general agreement that it could be a hardware issue, not firmware issue. Hopefully not hardware...

The important question is: Were you looking at boobies while listening to it? If you weren't, I'm not concerned. :D
 
i have a muvo micro n200 512 sitting in front of me. Its the second one i've had; the firs thad a wierd buzzing issue (low screaching more like it...) that googling and checkign forums found NO ONE else had. So i sent it back and they sent me a new one; very little fuss and new ones been perfect so far. I ordered directly from the creative web page. 10 days to get it to me, but aside from that came packaged nice adn they have everything in stock from what I can tell (any color/etc i think).

As for the player, except for the buzz/screach issue i got unlucky enough to get; i havnt had a problem. I get the backlight buzz if i'm using my senn cans; but on my sony q55's which i use most of the time on it (walking to class, etc) its not really noticeable. Regardless, i just turn it off though to save battery life. I love it so far. I just copy entire cds over as folders and play those with it; usually have 4-5 different albums.
 
I just got my Creative Muvo Micro 256 and I'm very satisfied with it. Great sound quality, and cool options. I brought it to the gym twice since I got it and it does the job very well. I would recommend it to anyone looking for a workout player. I have cheap-ass shitty headphones and it still sounds good. I can't say how reliable it is, since I've only had it for 4 days. :p
But so far...so good.
 
I think I am going to pick up two of those, Amazon has the 512MB + the 256MB for $200. My wife wants one in pink so I figure what the hell.
