I looked all over but cannot find an answer.

Is it possible to take 4 drives and set up two raid1 arrays/volumes on a Intel controller?

Example, two small fast drives for the OS and two slower larger drives for storage.

Matrix allows for two sets of raid on a single array, not what I had in mind though.

I was pretty sure two sets could be done.

I also found a thread where many have tried only to have freezing issues with W7.

Anybody know or have experience trying this route?
 
I figured as much, just was not finding anything concrete. Nothing on Intel's site about this and I did not want to jump hoops to post the question on their forum.

As Intel is firmware/software two volume should play nice, least in theory.

One thing I have found out which is nice, if you have drives in raid on Intel you can remove the drives and put them in a USB enclosure if you want to move the files.

USB ignores the metadata. I've even done with this windows on the disk.


I recently found out with a virtual drive [raid] on marvell you cannot use programs that check smart, temp etc which really sucks if you like to monitor whats going on.
