I wasn't gettin' much help over at Gen[M]ay so I decided to try here instead.
Since yesterday my video card is having a lot of problems with anything direct 3d. Direct draw works just fine, and I think openGL works too. I thought it might be directX or video drivers, but dxdiag checks out fine for directx, and I just reinstalled the drivers (using driver cleaner, of course).
The card is an Asus V9520/TD (Geforce FX 5200)
Here's the kind of video problems I'm having:
This is the login screen for WoW, and the screenshot couldn't really capture very odd, blinky, artifacts. It looks even worse now, actually.
I've been told that it looks like heat problems, but I'm running stock clock frequencies in a cool basement with a new heatsink.
Would a damaged memory module cause this havoc, perhaps? I put on some memory heatsinks with thermal tape, and I had to reapply one yesterday.
Is there some sort of diagnostic tool I could use to troubleshoot my problems?
Thanks for your time
CLIFFS
- Crazy texture corruption in Direct 3D
- Doesn't look like DirectX or drivers
- I don't think it's overheating
- What would cause this?
