Just a quick question. How does Stanford list how many CPUs you have? Do they show up when they turn in a WU or what? I borged a bunch of machines tonight at a LAN party and at a customers site (with permission of course) and they don't show up. Just wanted to see if teh guys at the LAN party will keep running it or not and wanted some way to guage it.

For each instance installed, the client grabs a clietn ID which is stored in the reg. I assume this is how. Dual instances on dual cpu's ect each grab a unique ID.

yeah what I was trying to figure out was when do they update how many CPUs you are currently running (I show 6) but I just did 8 more tonight that aren't showing up yet. Was wondering if the yshow up when they actually turn in a WU

Cool that gives me an idea if they uninstall the borg after I left or not :)

Since you installed it (I will assume under your name and team number), then it will show up when they complete their first work unit. As soon as you get the points from stanford, and they do an update, it should list more CPU's. Although, depending on how fast their computer is, will depend on how long it takes for them to send in their first work unit (and the WU they are folding).

Yea, each machine can have up to 8 unique ID's, although im not sure how stanford generates these ID's.

Keep in mind that if you drop a CPU along the way it takes 7 days to show up. After that it takes 50 days to be removed from your CPU history.

Not a real good way to track borgs gone missing all of a sudden. ;)

True but it lets me know if they killed the borg the moment I left and just said yes cause I was there and it sucks to say "cancer research is for punks. I am gonna keep all my extra CPU cycles cause I might need em some day."
