CPU Temp

I am using EVEREST ultimate edition to pick up all the temperatures (hopefully it's reliable)

CPU: intel core 2 extreme qx6850
HSF: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16835103041
Case: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811119068

The temperatures show the main CPU idling at 20C flat, but CPU core's 1-4 are idling around 40C. During load, CPU is up to 40C while the 4 cores are up at 62-66C range.

Is this a decent temp? I am just using default casing fans and I just wanted to do if people go by the main CPU temp or the 4 cores and its avg?

thanks in advance.

Pick up RealTemp v3.0, the "CPU" temp is for the mobo socket and NOT the CPU, core temps are what you care about and are the temp readings from the chip.

Okay so I downloaded real temp 3.0.

my cpu at load, the avgtemp is 45C.

also, what is "distance to TJ max" mean?

distance to TJmax is the distance to when your cpu will hit its thermal limit before downlocking and/or shutting off..
