im thinking about getting a new cpu and a new mobo to go a long with it...what would you guys recommend? ive heard barton series are pretty good....i would wanting to be ocing since i have water cooling..

Well depends...

If your budget is low (say 200-250):

I would go for barton 2500+ and the nf7-s v2 or the dfi lanparty b mobo.
(i would go lanparty since it has better ocing and looks damn good...)
Plus getting the cpu block for the barton.

If your budget is high (say 350-400):

I would go for the a64 3000+ and the msi neo fis2r or the albatron mobo.
(i would go albatron since it has better onboard sound...)
Plus getting the cpu block for the a64.

With any of these i would get the pc3200 or pc3500 memory. Low latency on both cases. Corsair and mushkin have good ones.

On a personal note i am going for the second config and since my budget is not that good i'm pairing it with some buffalo pc3200 ram. (Low budget ram but good reviews all around, though not a good OCer.)

better yet, get a 2500+ with a DFI ultra infinity... and if you have the budget, get 1 gig of muskin lvl 2 pc3500.

Yes the infinity, now how did i miss that...

The infinity has the same things as the lanparty ultra b just without the flashy stuff.

BTW, if you go lanparty or infinity, you might have some problems installing some thermalright heatsinks. I believe all of them are "instalable" so to speak, but it might take some moddin... though nothin relly big...

2500+ with a DFI Infinity Ultra or w.e it is called - the one around $90. I feel like I cheated myself by getting the Abit NF7-S, no doubt a great board but not as good as the DFI in the overclocking department.

eh.. that's a sweet rig :D;) :p :D

But remember that the 2500+ is only if you are really on a budget now. It won't hold as long as other cpus out there (a64, etc.)
Right now i really suggest getting the a64 3000+.

You have to take into consideration that the barton core getting really old. And eventhough is the budget processor right now, it also has been that for a long time now. Its title is not bound to last for too much long... See those prices on the a64 512kb cache
