I want to upgrade/replace my Artic Cooler 7. I have AM3 Phenom II X4 955 3.2Ghz and I OC to a stable 3.52Ghz. My goal is to OC to 4.0Ghz [or close to it]; I might be dreaming but hopefully OC over 4.0Ghz.


Anyways I have an Antec 900 case and I do not want to remove my side case fan, so I need a CPU HSF relative to size. I don’t care about my budget, but I do not want to go Watercooling [lazy to maintain].



Did a quick search and found a Cooler Master Hyper 212. Like I said, I would like to keep my side case fan [to keep my GPU (ATI 5850) cool], but that HSF has Push/Pull method – wondering if removing the side case fan is worth it?


Any suggestions?
 
it should fit, there has to be someone using s 212+ and a 900 some one will have that setup im sure
 
It would be really really close. My heat sink is around 5mm taller than the 212+ and I CANNOT use the side panel fan. I'm inclined to say that it would not fit.
 
You can always flip the plastic fan retention piece so the fan is on the outside of the case but still blowing in. That's how I fit my U12P SE2 in my Antec 900 with a side fan.
 
Don't want the fan case outside of the case =/ But I see what you're saying and thanks for the suggestion.

I am avoiding to buy a new case; planning on getting a new case but I want to wait till the new AM3+ comes out [or upgrade to Sandy Bridge -- either or].
