If 6/6 is the same as 1/1 and 4/4 , then why have them? Why not just have 1/1 and leave it at that?

Sometimes the question isn't why, but why not?

Actually (I think) it has to do with the other ratios possible with a "denominator" of 6, where 1:1 doesn't really give a usable ratio (2:1)
