CPU Fan Dead?

I bought a retail AMD 64 3200 Processor and it came with a fan. I have it plugged into the CPU_Fan header on my motherboard (ASUS A8N-SLI Deluxe) and it spins up like normal. I have the Q Fan control option turned on in the BIOS. When I boot up, sometimes I will get an error message that says my CPU fan may not be working well enough. In the BIOS Hardware monitor, it says it is spinning between 1400 and 1500 RPM. Using the ASUS Probe utility in Windows gives me similar speeds. Is this too slow? Is there any way to manually speed up the fan? It seems like it should spin faster than that. My CPU temp is at 39 Celcius so I don't think it is causing a problem, but some info would be good.
 
the fan is about 3100rpm i think, cant remember... but its porbably just cool and quiet, its nothing to worry about
 
if you really want to speed the fan up, then turn off Q fan and cool and quiet.

given the temps you are posting, i would just live with the message and leave your Q fan settings alone. enjoy having a reasonably quiet computer, and set the bios to power off the computer if the fan every stops.
 
Well, I think I figured it out...

I was using the FAN ONLY plug on my Antec Neopower PSU for my 1 top and 2 front chassis fans. I don't know how they are related, but I unplugged the fans from that port and plugged it into a regular port and things are running much faster and much cooler. Even the CPU fan which is connected to the header on the MB si running a bit faster. Just thought I would update in case someone else ran into the same thing.
