CPU and GPU cooling questions.

I currently own a slightly overclocked P4C with a Zalman 7000 ALCU HSF and a eVGA 6800GT with stock single slot cooling. I am looking to upgrade the cooling on both to get better O/Cs and just a cooler setup all together.

My question is, which of the following provides the best CPU cooling performance?

-XP-90 or XP-120 with Panaflo fan
-Zalman 7700 CU
-Zalman 9500 (the NEW and yet to be released HSF)

And for the video card, I was thinking:

-Zalman 700 Cu
-eVGA direct copper cooling for 6800GT
-6800Ultra dual slot Copper cooling from eVGA
-Other you have in mind?

I really want to stick to air cooling for now, due to cost ssociated with a water setup.

XP-120 will give slightly better cooling than the XP-90 (a few degrees celcius), but it cost's like twice as much. I would get either over a Zalman 7700. I don't know about the 9500, but like you say, it's not out yet...

I would lean towards the Zalman 700 out of those choices. An NV Silencer5 from Newegg should also serve you well.

Remember some Arctic Silver Ceramique or AS 5 for both coolers.

I always have AS5 on hand. I'd need to pick up some Cermanique for the RAM sinks though.

So which would offer better cooling for the GPU, the 700 Cu or a NVSilencer?

The new Zalman 9500Cu is touted to cool better than a 'water cooling' setup. Who knows what the compared it to - maybe their crappy passive resorator. I'll wait to get a XP-90 or the 9500 once benchies are out.

Tough call between the 700 and the silencer..but I am going to give the edge to the 700.

On second thought, i'm giving the 700 much more of an edge because of the ram heatsinks
