Core Xeon Question

So I recently got a free box from work that is old and figured out it has one Xeon 5100 Woodcrest processor in it (I believe its a 5100, might be a 5300). Would it be worth it to grab two 5300 series quads off ebay for like 30 bucks and do some DCing or use as an everything home server? Or is the Core architecture not even worth spending that much money on any more? I have everything else, just if I go for it, I want it to have the best if it is worth it.

I wouldn't bother if you are going to hold with it. Most modern desktops should spank it and use less power.

Ok, I'll probably just stick with the dual core and throw it in this other case I have with 8 hot swap bays and use it as a NAS.

if it's just going to be a NAS box, save on some power and remove one of the CPUs, run it single cpu mode.
