Core Temp showing difference vs CPU-Z

Core temp (version 0.99.1) says I have my e8500 at 333 x 6
But, CPU-Z (version 1.44.2) shows I have my e8500 at 333 x 9.5

Whats the deal?

I am not OC'ing at all....
 
Sounds like you have C1E / SpeedStep enabled in the bios. That drops your multi to 6.0 at idle.
 
Well, actually, coretemp shows 333x6 when I'm at full load running wPrime for stability test...

So, it's not that then I guess, because it always shows 333x6 whether I'm at load or idle...

?
 
Last time I checked core temp I found you have to push a button to get it to update in real time. You need to push the F5 key.

You could always try RealTemp which doesn't have this problem and is compatible with programs like SetFSB. CoreTemp is not.

You're right, I have to hit refresh.

Under load it shows 9.5, not under load it shows 6...


Is this even a problem really? Won't it have the same performance in games?

Or is this only a problem for Overclockers?
 
I guess it is only a problem for those that want to know what speed their CPU is really running at. :D
 
On a somewhat different note...

How can a person tell what temp their cpu is at while they are running a game? Because obviously the game is on the screen and your not on your desktop, so you can't see the temps...

How can I see my temps in real time while I'm playing a game?
