what is a safe over clock for i7 860 with the stock cooler.
i want to keep turbo mode and any power savings available.
how do i go about testing clock speeds with differant # of threads, so i can see turbo mode in action. what are safe voltages to use? what program can i use to monitor as the clock speed changes per thread?

iirc max voltage on those chips are 1.45v or 1.55v, on stock cooler i woulnt bump the voltage but if you want to just watch the temps closely.

for watching the clock speed use cpuz

for watching temps and fan speed use everest

for the overclocking part of it just give it a 10mhz bump on the fsb and see if it takes, keep doing this untill it doesnt, then keep bumping it down one mhz till you find the max OC on that voltage, bump the voltage if you want then start process over again (from last stable overcock at lower voltage)

use prime 95 for testing the cpu and seeing how hot it will get, take 80% of that temp and that is the max you will prolly ever see using 100% cpu
