Core 2 Duo Overclocking guides?

I've been looking for some good Core 2 Duo overclocking guides for beginners that just got into overclocking. For now, I haven't even found one. The guide(s) isn't/aren't for me, they're for some of the people that I help design/build computers, who have no idea how to overclock. And I'm not willing to sit there on AIM for 2 to 3 hours explaining overclocking and telling them what to do. Easier to just direct them to a guide (or 3). I know some excellent A64 overclocking guides over at OC Forums, but no Core 2 Duo/Conroe ones.

You guys know any?

If nothing else, then I was thinking of writing up one myself based on the three A64 overclocking guides that taught me to overclock from scratch. Better than nothing.

Well it helps to know what board you are working with specifically.

I can tell you what to do on the Biostar TForce P965 Deluxe, and the P5B Deluxe WiFi/AP, and the P5W DH.

I'd be interested in the P5B Deluxe. I'm pretty sure I know the basics but I want to have all my ducks in a row before building in the coming month.

A P5W Dx guide would be awesome, though that board tends to have a lot of forum posts about it. Having it all condensed into one place or post of links would rock!

QFT ! at least thats what i did

Thats what a lot of 6300 owners are doing! Easy cheezy OC, almost as fast the $1000 X6800 (the faster FSB, pretty much makes up the difference from the extra cache). You can't beat that with a stick!

Is a post with most of the bios settings you should be looking at, of course the memory timings and voltages varry depening on your ram, but you can atleast get an idea.

If you have specific questions about the p5b deluxe wifi, ask and I'll help as much as I can.

Thanks for the link bro!
Just got my 6600, P5B Deluxe, and 2 Giggs of G.Skill PC-6400 hooked up. Been burning in for 3 days but this weekend it's time to crack it up and see what happens.

Thank you for replying. However, I'm looking for a guide for someone that is very new to overclocking, and looking at that guide would just scare away a lot of people, I would think. I remember how I felt when I started out, and I would have given up looking at that. Not saying that its not a good guide, its nice, especially with the feature disabling section, but not as beginner-friendly as I was looking for.

Maybe I'll just use the generic "Guide to Overclocking" at OC Forums. It applies to multiple platforms and gives a nice intro to the subject.

Well, overclocking the P5B Deluxe is very easy to do. ASUS sent me a guide on getting the P5B Deluxe to 550FSB with an E6300.

Basically you set the MCH and all your voltages to the max and start cranking that FSB. The chips should do it at 1.485 volts at the most but your mileage would vary. The key to getting the P5B Deluxe to hit those numbers is to select the right memory. The ram in my sig will do it, and so will your higher end Corsair memory.

I know there are a lot of Patriot, PQI, and other module brands out there, but the fact of the matter is I have never used much of that ram so I can't speak to how good any of that stuff is.

Well the point is that I really don't care about the P5B or any other motherboard out there. Neither would a newbie know terms like MCH, FSB, or vCore. I'm not looking for a P5B/P5W/DS3/DQ6 overclocking guide, like most of these have been.

I'm looking for something like these that I'm about to post, but for Core 2 Duo. I realize that they might not exist, but I want to make sure before I put a few hours into writing one myself;

First.
Second.
Third.

Those are what I used, in that order, to teach myself to overclock from absolute scratch. It also gave me more knowledge than the average teen wannabe about how a processor works. I've heard immeasurable praise about those guides from the people that I've 'prescribed' them to. Too bad they only apply to Athon 64s, as the rules are quite different when you move to the Core architecture, and Intel's way of doing things.

Could you post this or tell where this can be obtained?
