I'm getting ready to drop a 9800 Pro 256 in my shuttle....SB75G2 model. I'm wondering if anyone knows of a more advanced cooling solution (AIR guys....I move around too much for water), but the problem is...I have next to no room. I'd love an Arctic Silencer, but with the lack of room, and the Audigy2 Plat Pro EX card in the PCI slot...I have next to no room.

Any ideas?
 
Even if your PCI slot was empty, you would have no luck. The cards heatsink points outwards (away from the comp) meaning you would have to cut a hole in the side of the case. Almost (if not all) aftermarket heatsinks are huge and would not fit. The only solution for doing something like that is cutting a hole in the side of your case lol. I had the same problem but after a while I said screw it and just kept the stock heatsink on there. Are you planning on OCing or something?
 
My favorite enhanced coolers for the 9800 will not work in that limited space, but when I had my 9800 pro in an SN41, it was fine with stock cooling. Does the SB75 run a lot hotter? (My 9800 is only 128 mb model so I'm not sure it the heat issues for that are the same either.) In any event, I think Avengeance's case mod suggestion is good if you have the time and skills to do it and absolutely need/want the additional cooling.
 
Don't plan on OC'ing on that box. I'm just rather....touchy....about my temps. I've managed to drop the temps to 120F under load currently (48-49C), but I keep things a bit more gentle (settings wise) on the AIW. Droppin in the 9800 pro 256...I plan on cranking things up. Guess it's time for a custom :p
