I have a receiver and it looks like this -->

Pioneer VSX-9500S A/V Receiver. It's old but paid a lot for it when it first came out (a couple thousand); since it's summer it gets quite hot in the house and I'm afraid it will cook itself to death.

From reviews it's apparently an excellent receiver that beats out a lot of modern day receivers because of quality. And I'd like to keep it.

Anyway to cool an a/v receiver?

Well, what are the hot components? I really think that this will be based on your comfort with modding, as well as your knowledge of exactly which components need cooling. I'd say you could use thermal epoxy to put heatsinks on components that are ultra hot, then perhaps fashion an 80 or 60 mm fan into the case.

Are you sure recievers need cooling? (I'm not very knowledgable about recievers)

I have the same problem with a Sony AV amp.
In the summer to say it gets hot is an understatement so I have a housefan blowing towards the hifi and my PC, keeping a good supply of fresh air going towards them.
My amp runs at a very acceptable temp now and it helps keep the PC cool too :)
