Lately my foxconn factory OC'd 8800GTS 640MB is hitting 90 C. i'm a little worried. so i'm planning on getting COOLER MASTER AQUAGATE VIVA RL-M4A-E7E1-GP to cool the card. anyone has this or has a better for the same price range. i don't mind paying 10 for better one and easy to install. i'm tatally new to this. also if i install this do i need something else to cool the rest of the card or something?

I imagine you'd want a full coverage block or the like for an 8800. Even then, that puny thing probably couldn't take the 8800's heat. Unfortunately, there's nothing similar for the price. The closest thing would be a TR HR-03, with a fan.

Before you go out spending some money:
1) Did you tape over the vents at the end of the card?
2) Does your case have proper airflow?
3) What is the ambient temperature?

the ambient temp is around 66-70 under load, there is no tape on the vents and i have pretty good airflow in my case.

You should take off the stock cooler and clean everything and then apply some decent thermal paste. Then put it back on. Often times manufacturers do a terrible job with putting on the stock heat sink, which may be why your temperatures are so high.

it used to be lower, around 80 at highest now it hits 90 easily...but never higher. i had lost planet maxed out and rivatuner running at the same time. it never went higher than 90. i'll try cleaning it out and maybe clean the dusts out too and see what happens. but do u guys know of any good water cooling system that's easy to intall and works for chipset, CPU and GPU all at the same time and is efficient at it. doesn't matter the cost.

wow i must have gotten lucky because my GTS320 SC idles @ 50c with 80% duty cycle and 61c under full load. and i have done nothing to the stock cooler. i do have in my opinion very good air flow in my case.

but if u look on the evga forums they say those high temps are ok 70+c so who knows **shrugs**
