I want to start off by saying that I'm not big on air cooling. I have been building my own water and phase cooling systems for some time now and I rarely dabble back into Air Cooling. That having been said I've been looking for a decent cooler for a Q9550 I had laying around and noticed that the air cooling market had some nice quiet solutions.
There was a sale on the Coolermaster V8. To be fair I didn't really look deeply into how this unit performed. It's simple mass was enough for me to assume it would perform decently and the 800RPM speed on low for the fan was what I was looking for.
So I installed the sucker. I wasn't looking to overclock the processor much but I did want to give it some extra omph. So I was looking for around 3.6GHz and upon the first attempt it worked.
So the CPU Idles anywhere from 36-48C (Room Temp varies between 25-27C).
I just wanted to say how easy it was to configure and install. It was a pleasure to work with this cooler and overall I'm quite happy with it:
