Coolermaster Hyper 212 Evo Fan Problem!

I just replaced my old Xigmatek with this Coolermaster solution but my fan speed is always between 400-500 RPMs. The specification says 600-2000 RPM.

The problem is, even at full load the fan will stay at about 550RPMS. Take a look at my screenshot:

The first image is under a prime95 small FFTs testing. And, the temps are quite scary, so, I believe the fan should have been running at >1000RPMs at that time.

Do you think I got a faulty fan here?
 
Check PWM settings in the BIOS, maybe your target temps are set way high?

I have CPU Fan Speed Low Limit set to 400 because I get CPU Fan error messages when the system starts.

I also changed the CPU Fan Control from Standard to Turbo but the speed remains the same even if the CPU temps go really high.
 
Doesn't seem like the Coolmaster fan is capable of being controlled by the motherboard like the Xigmatek fan.

PS: Your other fan is spinning at 1150 rpms so why have the cpu cooler spinning so low? You can't even hear it at 600-800 rpm's?
 
Well, the 51C you see in picture 1 is high for me. My xigmatek would be running at about 1500RPMs right now and the temps would stop going higher and higher that fast.

If I did leave the Prime95 running for say 15 mins, it would probably be >70C with the fan still running that slow.

I only started this thread because according to benchmarks, CPUs don't go that hot with the Hyper 212, so, I thought maybe some of you guys have had that kind of experience.

I guess I'd better RMA it then.
 
Just plug the fan right into a 12v connector or a non pwm controller mb header. Its probably not the fan that is the issue.
 
I got it fixed I think! I just took it out, wiped out the thermal grease, applied new grease and reinstall the whole thing.

Now, working properly. On a prime95 test, it's runs at about 1200rpms and the CPU temps are pretty good as well.

That's one hell of a cooler :)
