Cooler Master System Pump Noises

Hey,

So my friend gave me his desktop hoping that I could fix this weird noise with his pump, basically it is kind of like the sound of a small motor/fan that is grinding on something.

This is one of those Cooler Master setups, but it has a reservoir radiator, and a pump/cpu block. He told me he hasn't changed the tubes or the fluid in over 2 years, so that lead me to think that this thing is probably screwed, but because I can't get the right clamp size I am going to bleed the system and then flush it with some distilled water and he said he would get some coolant for it in the time being. Is there anything else I can do for this? We are going to replace the tubing, and the coolant, if that doesn't fix it what else can be done?

Many thanks,

It could just be some debris in the loop particularly if he wasn't using biocide of some kind. Also make sure he isn't mixing metals. Any corrosion in the loop can get between the impeller and housing and make noise. I've also seen dyes fall out of solution and create some problems over time.

It also could just be his pump dying. I don't know what kind of pump is on this particular setup, but you can get replacement impellers for a lot of them if that's the only problem. If I was you, when I drained the system I would take apart the blocks and possibly the pump to check/clean debris first. If that doesn't fix it, consider getting a new pump and block. Hope this helps and good luck!

Thanks, yeah there is a whole ton of stuff floating around in there, so I will be sure to clean everything thoroughly.
