I recently RMAed my antec truepower 2.0 550w PSU to monarchcomputer and i see that they are sending me back this coolermaster psu. Should I call them and ask for a better/higher quality PSU like the antec i had before or a higher powered enermax/ocz?

Is this coolermaster even legit?

Thanks.

Buwahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaaa!!!

Oh... I'm sorry....

Not that an Antec TPII 550W is "crap" in any sense of the word, in my opinion an Acbel built 550W Cooler Master is better than a Channel Well built 550W Antec any day of the week.

You will miss the modular connectors, though.

Personally, I don't think companies should be swapping out PSU's on you for different make/models without consulting the customer first. If a company has to do a substitution, I expect a phone call.

i called a manager that i have spoken to many times before and he said they should have called me but they didnt. He said I could request a different one and hed put in the order on monday when hes in the office. Which one should I go for? I was thinking about the OCZ gamerxstream 600w.

Jonny?

This is the one i had before

i dont believe it was modular

Wow thats terrible buisness practice to send an RMA back of a completely different product. I agree though, the CoolerMaster is great, but its just reeeeeeeeeal lame of them to do that without even asking you if its what you want.

i guess if theyre not willing to give me the OCZ 600W Gamexstream (which they probably will) then ill just hold on to the CM.

so should i bother getting this ocz or should i just keep the cooler master? What worries me is theres so much wattage on the 3v and 5v and only 350 on the 12v.

I wouldnt have to pay to upgrade to the ocz.

The OCZ is of better quality (Fortron Eclipson). I would take the OCZ if I could get it for nothing.

I have the rig in my sig powered by that same psu with no issues...I got it from Monarch back when the regular price was $98.99 and just so happened to have a $10 rebate the day I bought. A quick check of other vendors showed that everyone else was selling it for $115-$130.

edit- Just be sure to pick up a gallon jug of Ripple wine to celebrate your purchase...right Jonny? ;)

wow they wont give me the OCZ. They said i have to stick with this one and if it doesnt perform then theyll give me the OCZ 600w.

So this coolermaster is fine?

EDIT: doesnt matter because they didnt have to replace it because it was a mobo problem
