I have a Nvidia 7900GS and am trying to overclock it. I have enabled Coolbits and can move the sliders etc... but no matter where I set them they do not stay there. If I close the properties then open it again the sliders are back at stock levels.

Anyone had this happen or know what I can do to fix it?

I have selected "Manual Overclocking" as that seems to be the only way I can move the sliders. I can manually move them and the "Test Changes" is clickable or just click "Detect Optimal Frequencies" and the "Test Changes" does not become clickable.

I have "Apply these settings at startup" selected also.

Either way I do this when I click Apply then OK then go back into the display properties the clock settings are back to factory defaults. Ive tried setting them then rebooting but still they go back to defaults.

Are you using the latest drivers? Are you using the latest NVTweak? The frequency settings seem to stick for me.

Sorry to hijack the thread but how reliable are the "optimal frequencies"?

Check to make sure you have nvsvc32.exe running in your processes. This process can be disabled if you want to run default settings but not when you want to modify anything.

My 7900GT is running fine even with the overclocks that the optimal settings found. I'm running at 567MHz and 831MHz memory. No problems what so ever.

Perhaps you're sliding the slider to far. I've noticed if your run detect optimal then try and go too far it won't take the settings that are too far

Im not moving the bars manually at all once I click Detect Optimal. They just dont stay put. Ive even tried moving the bars manually UP or DOWN just a hair and even then they dont stay.

Im guessing something is wrong with the coolbits registry on GO series drivers that causes the settings to not save... I dont know how to fix it as I've tried 2 different copies of the coolbits.reg file so far.

Nvsvc32.exe is running as a service. THe Nvidia tray stuff is not though... Do those matter for this? I downloaded the brand new drivers and same issue. Even using NvTweak to get coolbits installed.

Try and re-download the drivers and download NVtweak again. It may be a driver problem.

I have downloaded and installed a few different versions of drivers and coolbits or nvtweak from a few different download locations. So far they dont hold settings and I never get the option to click "Test Settings"..
