coolant temp vs CPU temp

Processor is an i5 750 @ 4.0 ghz and 1.36v using an Apogee XTL waterblock
GPU is a 5850 at stock clocks / voltages with an MCW80
MCR320 is cooled with 6 Scythe AP-15s and an MCR220 has 2 scythe AP-15s
Pump is an MCP35x
Distilled water w/ PT Nuke

Ambient is 27C

Idle temps:
CPU 40C
Coolant 30.5C

Load Temps (10 minutes):
CPU: 70C
Coolant: 33C

Is the disparity between water temp and CPU temp fairly normal? I'm relatively new to water cooling and temps seemed a bit higher than I would have thought. Even under load the air blowing from the rads never feels particularly warm.
 
Coolant temp is more or less fine, I'd blame having the GPU before the CPU and maybe a bad mount
 
That does not seem normal at all, reseat your CPU block. With my i7 920, I barely get above 50 C with a coolant temp of ~34 C on full load.
 
The loop order does not matter much as far as which component is cooled first, in my experience. The only thing thats important is reservoir (out) to pump (in). I've tried many configs with a similar setup to that of the OP. Right now im going 360mm >> cpu >> chipset >> gpu >> 240mm. If you do see a difference in temps, it will be a small one.
 
I'm sorry if there was confusion. Loop order is res > pump > 360 rad > cpu > gpu > 240 rad > res. GPU is after the CPU. GPU temps never go about 40C, just the CPU seems high. I'll reseat the water block again and throw some new paste on there and see if that helps.

After reseating the block is actually runs several degrees warmer (probably due to curing time)

I assumed since the block has only been in use for 3 months or so that it wouldn't require cleaning so early. Would you recommend that?
 
That's normal. That block is good for a delta T of 38C in most reviews with that kind of a load (4ghz Core i7).

Anyone claiming to have a load temp of 50C (rather odd that it's such a nice even number too) with a quad core is probably not overclocked, or not properly loading their processor, or their temperature sensors are not accurate, or they live in a refrigerator.

Even with really low ambient temperatures say 15C, you'll see at best an air to water delta T of 5C, and a water to CPU delta of still 35-40C, so that's 55-60C under unrealistic conditions.

Great to hear. I wasn't sure what the standard delta Ts were between water and block.
 
Started overclocking my 920 today, and lo and behold, my processor got to 70 C with a 4.2ghz overclock. So your temps are not that far off from where they should be.
 
Looks like I should have done more homework before bothering you guys. :(
