'Cool' card?

I am talking temperature here. My two 4870s are major heat sources, the exhaust fan on my TYR2000 is pushing so much heat, I could warm up a small house with it.

While not sacrificing performance, is there a 'cooler' solution? I heard that the GTX280s don't generate as much heat.

Basically the power consumption defines the heat output of a card, so if you're worried about heating up a room, look at power consumption rather than temperature in reviews. So look for graphs like this and figure out how much performance you're willing to sacrifice for power consumption (and thus heat output):

EDIT: Actually its not quite as simple as just power consumption, as flow rates in and out of the computer, as well as the flow in the room itself and thermal resistivity of basically everything, have a part to play too, but power consumption gives you the best idea, generally.
