Can this be done?

Here is the situation:

I have 1 desktop computer, 1 laptop computer, 1 HP ZR24w monitor, and 1 Hp LP2065 monitor. I want to be able to use the ZR24W with both computers (switching between inputs). The ZR24W has 1 DVI, 1 Display Port, and 1 VGA inputs. My desktop computer has 2 DVI outputs, and my laptop has 1 DVI output. So, the problem is I have 3 DVI ouputs (2 from desktop and 1 from laptop), but only 1 DVI input on the ZR24w. The other digital input is the Display Port, so I would need to go from DVI to Display port.

Now, I have DisplayPort to DVI adapter, which I've tried with this setup, where I plug the adpater into the monitor, and then connect a DVI cable from the computer to the female DVI connector of the adapter. When hooked up this way, the monitor receives no signal.

So, is there a DVI to DisplayPort adapter?

desh, I was on the same boat. Needed dvi to DP as my desktops nvidia card has only dvi out and no DP as the Radeons do. Almost every DVI-DP adapter work only DP>DVI. Tried a few none worked.
My solution was hooking up the laptop (DVI out) with a dvi to vga and used analogue connection on the ZR24W with the laptop. Granted colours are not as good and image is worse on th ZR24W when it receives signal through VGA even when calibrated, as in the beginning it had a red push quite pronounced.

Yeah, that's what I've ended up doing. I'm using the DVI and VGA inputs on the HP ZR24W, and using a DVI to VGA cable to go from the DVI of the video card to the VGA of the monitor. It works, but the image quality is not as good. Oh well.
