Continuous Beep

Search is turned off... My cousin's computer won't boot and apparently is giving off a continuous beep. I don't have the machine in front of me yet so I'm not sure if it's posting at all but I figured I'd get a headstart in case anyone know what the beep means. I'm going to clear the CMOS and try to check the RAM and CPU. Anything else that it could be?

Thanks

uhm if he has an ATI card like 9500 9700 9800 make sure the aux power is pluged in. 9500 plug comes loose sometimes and I got to jiggle it back in but it make continous beeps but Beep codes are also motherboard specific.

Still don't have the box in front of me, but I heard the beep over the phone. It's like nothing I've ever heard. While it is constant, it also changes between two tones (kinda of like a siren on a european police car... weird).

Is this a brand new computer? What parts are in it? Could be a bad components, overheating (although if nothings running not likely).

Also it may be a failed fan, or a fan the bios things is running out of spec. I tried a hardware monitor on my mobo and it started sounding like an european ambulance because it thought one of my fans wasn't spinning fast enough.

I no longer use that hardware monitor.

duh, I guess it would help to mention the board. It's an Asus A7N266-VM. It's been running for at least six months and to my knowledge it hasn't been opened up for at least a couple of months. I'll start serious troubleshooting once I get the box.

1. Clear the CMOS
2. Try a different stick of RAM
3. Try another CPU
4. Disconnect all peripherals

Any other suggestions... thanks
