Hey guys,

Do you think a gamecube could be display via Composite on Dell's 2007wfp? I'm thinking of getting a gamecube but I don't want to get a TV, and since my monitor has composite, I wonder if it'll work at all.

What's your thoughts?

it will work, and the moniter should be able to scale it to full screen as well, i cannot speak for lag however, my 2005 has no lag at all and scales perfectly

Hmmm I don't think it would. I mean, it's a 60-70hz monitor, which are what Tv's are, or atleast the ones when Gamecube game out. hmmm...

hz has nothing to do with it, (not for a game cube any way) the only place where you would see lag is the fact that your tv was only 640x480 and your monitor is (if its the same as mine ) 1680x1050 so it has to run a pixel doubler to stretch the image to make it fit. this take time on the internal dac. as i said, mine dose not have any lag, i doubt your will.

Ah okay. Thanks! (I know nothing of monitors, just that it'll scale) didn't even think of the internal DAC. but thanks for the help and advice guys!

Haha, you know what though? He said Gamecube. I think RF would be fine w/ that. :D

RF would be fine on a standard CRT but on an LCD its a whole different story.

Gamecube connected via Component cables support progressive scan (480P) & widescreen with most of the popular games.

But with Composite your stuck with 4:3 aspect (or stretched to fit which wont look right) and 480i resolution. I dont know if you've seen how PC LCD's handle an interlaced signal but it aint pretty.

Composite in itself has video quality issues (dot crawl), the only way Ive seen it look remotely decent is with TV's that have 3D Comb filters built in, but I doubt a 2007WFP (or any PC LCD) has any kind of comb filter installed.

A gamecube SVIDEO cable would look a little better, you're still limited to 480i but at least you wouldn't have to worry about dot crawl artifacts.

The RF was kind of a haha and a dig @ my least favorite console. :D

Problem is, if you didn't buy a component cable from Nintendo when they were available they will run you at least $90 with shipping on fleaBay. You'll commonly see them for $120 plus like $20-30 for shipping. I could buy a used Wii for that and the cables for another $30. Simply outrageous.
