What cpu for amd would this par with or be equal too?
i hear so much about these conroe processors i think im just gonna go with this one cause its cheaper but i dont know any benchmarks for it and i`m wondering if it will bottleneck with the latest gpu`s and such

Any advice on this processor for gaming would be appreciated

At stock speed it seems to run between the X2 4000+ AM2 and X2 4800+ AM2 in most benchmarks, and sometimes it's even faster than the X2 4800+ AM2 (Mathematica, DiVX encoding, DV to MPEG-2 encoding and gaming benchmarks except UT2004). :eek: At 2.4GHz it's equal to/nearly equal to or faster than the X2 4400+ AM2 @ 3.1GHz in most of those benchmarks.
 
You can use Altavista Babelfish to translate it - fairly readable.
 
what everyone else above said. I wouldn't bother with an X-2 4000+ or X-2 4800+. too much money for not enough performance. If a 2.4 can go to 3.6Ghz on air (conroe E6600), I think a 1.83Ghz Conroe can overclock to maybe 2.3? that's more than enough to beat an X2 series processor.
 
This processor will change how Intel make there future chips , it will bring prices down and will bring AMD days that they have never imagined.

This will change intels gaming capabilaties because before amd was seen as a gaming chip and it the conroe uses less power , its like beating amd at there own game.

All in all its a great chip , buy it if you can. :)
 
only dif between conroe processers is the multiplyer, and the stress testing. you cna easy oc to X6800 speeds.

as for what its on par with, well define on par. you mean in terms of price? generation? what AMD tells us? what Intel tells us?

if you mean price, well right now i would spose it would have to be something like an X2 4000+, but when that processer is officially released AMD will drop prices on all its processers and it will b on par with an X2 4800+

edit: not to mention if your wanting to OC you want an optie. although it would have its ass handed to it by new Xeon procs. but opties allways oc like madmen.
 
That 7x multiplier is really going to hurt you when it comes to overclocking. But if you can get it up to 2.4GHz, you should be able to handle any of AMD's current processors.
