motherboard : Intel 440BX
NIC : Intel Pro\100 S Desktop Adapter

If I plug a ethernet cable and open a web browser it will hang and eventually lock the system up

If I do not plug in an ethernet cable and open a web browser everything is fine except no web access

The problem is when I plug in the ethernet cable.

Steps taken:
1. swapped out the NIC with another and still have same problem as above
2. Tried different ethernet cable and still have same problem as above

What I am not seeing? Please help I am wits end.

are you even getting an IP when you plug the cable in?

maybe try a prime95 with cable plugged in..
