Compy stuck on mono?

So my cheapass HTPC stopped having stereo output..... Im pretty sure it used to do it, but not anymore.

Its a Sound Blaster 16 on a abit bm6 (cutting edge, i know) running xp.. Is there some setting that got tripped? Both winamp and media player have mono out, checked via the balance setting in them. its not the reciever im using, i checked the soundard out with headphones. any ideas?

If the headphones gave stereo out of the sound card, and you KNOW your receiver is fine, then you have limited it to the cable connecting the sound card to the receiver.

didnt make that quite clear, checked soundard output w/ headphones. it was mono. the problem is definitely in the computer.

Check the app. Maybe its that.

wasn the app, media player and winamp both mono.

i did fix it though, with the cure-all: restart! i realized that this thing has been running nonstop since september-october...
