Computer Won't Start Up

Yes, it's plugged in. There is power to the computer. I left it on one morning, and when I came back to it, the computer was off and would not start up. At first, I thought it was the power supply, so I replaced it with an XFX Pro750W Full Modular Supply Unit. Previously, I had been using an XFX 650W. When I push the power button, nothing happens. There are lights lit up on the motherboard, but nothing responds to the power button. Other things I have done to it include reseating the switch, resetting the CMOS, and reseating the hard drive (which I had to do in order to plug in the motherboard).

If it doesn't even post then it's not a good sign. Try removing the cpu/ram, reset the cmos and finally start the motherboard without it. A typical motherboard would just beep and throw some errors, so see if that happens.

Also make sure you have all the standoffs installed. Some motherboards like to flex and make contact with the motherboard tray.

A motherboard isn't going to beep (or show anything on the screen) without a CPU.

I tried starting it up without the RAM and there was no change. Same as before: No fans turn on, no beeps or whirs or anything.

ouch, if you had been messing with it I would say pull it out of the case and try it on the bench...but if you left it on and came back to this it sounds like something went on the mobo

Go thru the troubleshoot procedure:

PSU,
RAM,
CMOS,
CPU
Declare a mobo failure.

pull the motherboard out and try it with just cpu and ram (and power supply) on bench.

my wife's computer did something like this ...turns out the motherboard was grounding out on something.

Did you actually try to bypass the power switch? By shorting out the two pins on the motherboard. Sometimes they do go bad.
