My computer has suddenly stopped being able to detect my two CD-Rom drives. There just not there anymore. My XP Pro won't even auto-play a cd if I put one in there. Before I crack the case, is there a registry setting I could look at to see if something got borked?

Thanks in advance

Check the Bois. I know when ever I power down with the reset button my USB ports get disabled. Hope that helps

Same thing happened to my Parents computer... and I'm not sure how to fix it... And i've already tried the Bios stuff... No luck :(

EDIT: Parents are using almost the same setup as I (Different harddrive and CPU)

Check your that your IDE controlers in the Device Manager. See what its showing.

Check your BIOS? It just may have reset, and your secondary controler isn't showing anything?

Cheers,

went blind?

too much pr0n in the drive? :p

remember, your mother told you that'd happen.

If you became blind from watching too much porno my eyes probably would have popped out by now haha just kiddin

Check in windows device manager, either something got disabled somewhere or you have one of the following.

1.) 2 bad drives - unlikely
2.) 1st drive on the chain is bad causing neither to show up - possible
3.) bad IDE controller - possible
4.) random hidden setting changed by accident - very likely
