I wasn't sure where to put this thread so this seemed like a good as place as any.

I turned a computer into a custom arcade.

Looks good. How often do you play 4 player games on it though?
 
It had a lot of parts and the total cost (over the 4 months was pretty steep). lets just say over $1000 less then $5000.

As for playing 4 players, unfortunately there aren't that many 4 player arcade games, but it plays console games too, N64 games, PS, Nes, SNES, Genesis plus I threw in a real Playstation 2. so I would say about 30% of the time I play 4 player games, espically things like

X-men
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles
Cadillac and Dinosaurs
NBA JAM

Things like fighter games is where I have the most fun so there is a lot of Soul Calibur 3 and Tekken 5
 
Thats sweet, i guess you where playing tekken 5 thru the ps2 in arcade mode? at first i was like "holy ***** hows he playing that thru pc hardware?" lol
 
Yeah the new fighting games Soul Calibur 3 and Tekken 5 are through the PS2, not able to emulate them and the Real arcade boards which I could integrate are way too expensive.
 
I'd say thats on a par of awesomeness up there with Yoshi's (techTV) ModBox (the lian li he stuffed an atari, xbox, ps2, gamecube, snes(I think), and a fully fucntional PC into, complete with a video output switcher. Nerdgasm)
 
I guess I would say I have enough money. The project was broken up over 4 months so I would buy a little part one day then buy another the following week and eventually it added add up to what you see.
 
Holy Crap! that is amazing. You know, if you could buy a few licenses for those games or work something out with the game companies. You might be able to even market these things! But non-the-less it still looks amazingly sweet. Like GASM :eek:

Nice job, can't wait to see whatelse you churn out in the future.
 
You can find tons of information on arcade cabinet building on the web. A buddy of mine did something similar. Bought a set of blueprints that you can overlay on top of wood he bought from Lowe's/Home Depot. Cut, assemble, grabbed some Happ joysticks/buttons, threw a 20" tv in there, and then just used the tv-out on his computer. Cost was just a few hundred if that.
 
I have an associates degree in electrical engineering so I have had a slot of experience with things of this nature. It was a lot of fun figuring out how to integrate everything.
 
Wow. Coolest thing I've seen all day...just don't let any of your neighborhood kids see that you have such a contraption :p
