Hi, I am new to this forum, but I have checked many threads here and there about headaches from computer screens.
Everything started about 4 years ago from light headaches from screens. I had my PS3 for about 2 years with no problems, but then I just started to have some headaches playing games on big Philips LCD TV. Now I just can not play video games on TV, but I can just watch TV with no problem, any TV, old new, never mind. I used to work on computer with IBM P260 CRT screen with no problems and no I can't sit in front of it. Then I had LG W2220P screen and I can not sit in front of it even for 15 mins, no I have a MacBook Pro 5.1, and the situation is the same, I get headache after like 10-20 min, same thing is with my iPhone 4.
I have no idea what is going on, maybe something to do with screen flickeringring?
Health is fine, apart this annoying thing happening...

I think the LG W2220P is a CCFL fluorescent lights backlit monitor you might want to try the latest low brightness LED backlit monitor. I couldn't find the release date for the MacBook pro 5.1 but if it's pre 2011 or so it might not be LED backlit.

I can't use big TVs anymore due to the amount of light I take in I think causes altered vision ect..I can use about a 27" monitor maximum and that is a Pc monitor not a TV.

I also use a antec 6 bias light kit which you can find on amazon which helps with eyestrain by x10 fold.

that's weird how a few years ago you didn't have the problem

i think it could be related to a change in your ambient lighting and the brightnesses of your screens relative to that

Still couldn't find the answer. Had the BenQ XL series flicker free monitor and it did not help. I have an iPhone 6 and it also gives me headache while working with it for a short period of time. Maybe somebody had somekind of same issue, cause it bothers me a lot.

Might be a good idea to go see an eye doctor or ENT. Eyestrain and muscle tension can cause headaches. So can sinus issues. I had my nose fixed back in June (deviated septum) and was off work for 2 weeks because the bruising and soreness in my sinuses was making my eyes hurt and giving me severe headaches whenever I tried focusing or concentrating on a computer screen for any length of time.

Anyway you look at it, your problem isn't normal, and I'd want to have it checked out by a professional.

I agree with Astral Abyss, not being normal is not normal. Get a doc to check you out.

Yeah, I would definitely see an eye doctor to make sure you don't have a denegerative eye disease.

I've used some monitors that are clearly worse than previous models. Flickering, pulsing, and excessive blue light and backlight bleed. But the macs have been ok - and the iPhone 4 causing issues? That sounds like - unfortunately - it's more of a problem with your eyes or brain. Unless you can actually use those same machines that used to be fine, and they're still fine. I realize they worked fine then, but to have an accurate comparison you'd have to be able to use them now and see how they worked.
