I just got FiOS TV and the set top box I ordered has a S-Video output on the back so I decided to hook up my old pc to it. Only problem is, my video card isn't detecting the TV. I have a 9800 pro on the old pc and I've tried using force detection but nothing is happening. Can anyone help out?

I think the svideo on your graphics card is output only. You are trying to input an svideo signal into your graphics card, which just wont work.

As far as I am aware it is only the newer ATi video cards that support AVIVO, which support both video input and output.

I am not completely sure though as I have never tried this myself...

I'm trying to get the computer screen on the tv not vice versa, I think it's the set top box to be honest cause I've done this before but with some rf modulator.

If you are trying to get the computer screen onto the TV, connect the svideo cable from your pc to your tv input, and then boot up your computer.

You cannot plug it in while your computer is on as it will not recognise it. You must boot up the pc with the cable connected for the pc to start outputting video though the svideo.

I am not quite sure what the set to box has got to do with this... Are you trying to plug your pc though your set to box to display onto your tv?

yes I'm trying to get my computer to display on my TV, but my TV doesn't have S-Video and the set top box does. So I connect the S-Video from the video card to the set top box and in the control panel it says the TV is not detected.

edit: nvm got it, just used composite video from the video card to the TV, works fine. Sorry for the trouble.
