Alright so I believe that I need to replace something, either the CPU or Mobo but not sure what.
Specs:
XP 2800 barton
MSI K7N2G
Maxtor 120
Maxtor 120
Maxtor 80
9700 AIW Pro
2 CDROM drives
3x512mb Crucial PC-2700
431w Enermax
It all started when my computer kept restarting any time I did anything that was CPU intensive. That was frusterating but I learned that if I bump the FSB down to 100mhz everything was okay but painfully slow. And anything other than that setting would be unstable.
Since then things have gotten progressively worse. At first the computer could not handle encoding without restarting. Now it has turned into not being able to play video files, or even start up a couple of torrents at once.
Cooling is probably not an issue. It runs between 40-50c normally on an SLK-800 + 80mm Panaflo. And my northbridge fan seems to be working well too. I even switched around all my RAM in every which order that it could possibly go, from one stick to three sticks in every which slot.
The ol MSI has RAID and Memory issues and thought maybe it is just crapping out on me. But a friend suggested that it is my CPU that is messed up instead. The bad part of this situation is that I have no way to test either. Any suggestions would be very appreciated, thanks.
