OK, my rig is listed below.
Today I went inside to attach the fan speed controler for my Venus 12 heatsink, (I was tired of hearing a constant vacum) and after I hooked it up right I turned on my computer.
It POSTed but after it shows you all the frequencies everything is running at it stops, and just sits there. It doesn't detect any IDE drives or anything.
Things I have done....
Took everything apart to make sure something got behind the motherboard to short it out.
Looked for cracks.
repluged in everything a couple times. taken on and off the fan controller.
nothing works. and I'm not sure what is wrong. and it pisses me off...
It was working perfectly fine until the fan controller instalation. I must of messed up something. any thoughts?
Thanks...

start switching out parts one by one until you can isolate the problem. I'd say start w/ the PSU...

the PSU works fine... as does all the other hardware until now at least I think I messed up something on my motherboard..

I'd suspect the drives if they aren't detecting properly. Perhaps some sort of power problem?

EDIT: You might not have connected something up right, which is causing a power problem.

i double checked everything. all the wirering is correct. the jumpers are correct.
Oh yeah, and I can't get in the bios because of no keyboard support. but I don't get a message saying there is no keyboard present. and the voice doctor thing isn't even coming up...

make sure your keyboard is going in P/S 2 style. when troubleshooting USB is NOT the way to go. Also disconnect everything but your boot drive, a cd-rom device and hte vid card. tak everything else out. The vanilla system should at least post. Also --reseat your RAM.

Like, that's a start....hope it helps

Key board is PS2 not USB. Tried a different keyboard and nothing.
I reset the bios. I tried the "vannila boot" or whatever, that didn't work either.
this sucks...
but thanks fo rthe ideas!
I know all you [H]ard guys out there can help me figure this out..

ok, so like, if you did hte vanilla boot, you know that the prob is with either your chip/mobo/ram/psu/vid-card/main drive.

Since you're not posting, we're gonna eliminate the main drive as failing since the machine isnt even getting there.

I'm hoping that you're communicating to us on a desktop machine. I think the first thing you should do, is open up the box you're on, and using it to test the remaining parts.

Start with the vid card.

Then the ram (if you can)

then the PSU.

for the vid card try make sure you start in safe mode, to avoid driver issues.

If you make it to windows with any of these devices, then the prob is either with the remaining two untested items (mobo/chip) or there's some sort of conflict with the parts that wasn't for some reason surfacing before but was precipitated by your fan thingy installation.....the second option is like, HIGHLY UNLIKELY.

g'luck.

Hmmm...something similar happened to me when I installed my Thermaltake Venus 12 like you did. I took out the older heatsink/fan and installed my new Venus 12 and started my computer. I had not changed anything else at all. I just changed the heatsink/fan. I connected everything up the way the instructions told me to. So I press the power button on the front of the case, it goes past POST screen, BUT my RAID 0 failed. I was upset to say the least. I was thinking, WTF? How can a heatsink/fan install fudge up a RAID 0 array? Anyhow, I ended up reformatting and rebuilding the RAID 0 array. Then 3 months later, my RAID 0 array failed again. GRRR... Then after that, it would not hold anymore so I bought a new ASUS motherboard, heh.

Make sure your fan speed sensor is connected to the motherboard. Some motherboards will not do anything if the fan speed is detected as 0 RPM. Well, that's just a thought.

yeah I got the sensor pluged in. I swaped out some part, same result everytime...
Nothing working... same problems as before...
I am thinking about taking to *gasp* best buy or somehting to find out what the problem is...
I think I messed up the motherboard...
which I am not happy about...
any other ideas guys?

how powerful a fan did you put on? you could have blown the fan circuitry. is the fan even turning? try a stock fan.

did you remove the thermal pad and put on thermal heatsink paste?

you didn't re-use an old thermal pad, did you?

no the venus 12 does not have a heat pad. It was running fine for like 3 months.
I didn't remove the heatsink. I am using thermal paste.

I don't know if you've tried this, but try plugging in some speakers to the mobo's onboard sound system (if it doesn't have its own speaker). I have a similar problem as you, and I just realized that maybe the reason why it's not giving the audio messages is because there is no speaker attached. Sure enough when I plugged in some headphones it said "System failed cpu test". So now I'm stuck there, lol. I hope this can help you out.

well, I do have an on-board sound card. with my speakers plugged in.
but I will check jumpers for the Dr. Voice thingy.
