Computer beeps at me at odd, random times

The specifications of my system are in my signature. Every so often my computer will beep at me...it seems random, and sometimes it'll beep several times with each beep within a few seconds of each other. The beeping is not coming from my computer speakers OR the case speaker (it did it in my old case, which didn't even *have* a case speaker).

Here's what I know:

* My system has beeped with two Gigabyte GA-K8NS motherboards,
* It has beeped both with the POS Orion power supply that came with my old case AND my current Enermax power supply,
* It's not related to any error messages,
* I don't have any other symptoms (no instabilities, error messages, or anything else)
* It's not related to high temperatures (it happens sometimes when the computer is idling and I'm doing other things, and my temperatures are good throughout the system)
* I'm hooked up to a 110V power outlet (I'm in Europe, which uses 220V but I'm in an Air Force dormitory that provides 110 outlets as well)
* The power here operates at 110V 50Hz instead of 110V 60Hz like in the states
* The overall power quality here is not that great; I'm connected to a surge protector (I've been considering getting an UPS)

I kinda suspect that my motherboard has a buzzer somewhere that beeps whenever the power fluctuates a little, but I'm wondering if anyone has any ideas?

I have a gigabyte motherboad and it does teh EXACT same thing. Mines a P4 Motherboard and its rather damn annoying. It sounds like its my hardrive thats making the beeping noise. I cant figure it out.

Gigabyte's just psychotic like that. Next time get a brand with a better reputation, for now I'd say just ignore it.

Maybe it's just trying to keep you on your toes? Take a screwdriver to the beeper/pcSpeaker, that will fix it's wagon.

I had a problem something like that.
Fixed it by changing my fire alarms battery......
The battery in it was dieing and so it was chirping at me at random intervals.
But atfirst I thought it was one of the computers as they all run 24/7.
So if its more a chirp than a beep check your fire alarm.

Another thing to check would be the temps of your vid card.

Luck........... :D

I think everybody's getting overly technical here...

I reckon it might be your keyboard. Something pressing down on a key perhaps, or the keyboard's crapping out. Swap keyboards with someone for a while and see how it goes. Does their PC start beeping, does your stop?

Colin - Gigabytes really will beep randomly for no apparent reason when it's just sitting there untouched and doing nothing. Sounds weird, I know.

How did something like that get through development? Is it possible that it's temp related, or fan rpm related? Never owned a Gigabyte board simply because their logo looked stupid, and they've never had the best reviews of a product when I've been in the market to get one.

That is crazy...and it puts me in a bind as well. This computer is fairly new; I put it together at the end of last year. There are other things I don't like about this board, but I don't want to replace it with another AGP/Socket 754 board at this point, and I don't want to throw out my CPU and video card in order to get a 939/PCI-X board. :(
