Does the Koolance QDC (Extreme Flow) Shutoff Nozzle Male/Female connectors work like compression fittings?
 
I'm not exactly sure what you are asking. There are some QDC fittings that have compression fittings on the ends for connecting tubing. If you are asking about function, the purpose of them is to be able to disconnect the two halves while only losing a few drops of coolant. This can simplifiy draining your loop or can also be used for components that are changed out frequently (i.e. video cards) allowing you to remove the component without disassembling and draining your entire loop. I find them to be a bit bulky though and they can be difficult to integrate cleanly into a loop.

-edit- To further clarify the difference, compression fittings only serve to connect the tubing to a cooling block or other loop component. They are named so becuase the outer ring which you screw down onto the barbed fitting compresses the tubing against the barb thus creating a good seal and keeping the tubing seated.
 
Yeah, i'm stupid. I thought that the shuttoff nozzles were like compression fittings with the shutoff nozzle ability.

I didn't find out that they weren't until I called up the place I ordered from and they clarified for me that they are just for hose lines and do not act like barbs that plug into water cooling devices.

they work nothing like a compression fitting, hence the name QUICK DISSCONNECT

I wish koolance would make some 7/16" ID 5/8" OD compressions. I hate having to buy parts from koolance, then compressions from somewhere else. Oh well, i have enough compressions to last me for a while at this point. And yes, the QDC is just that, a compression fitting on each end with a quick disconnect on the other end.
 
Well, they do connect to the tubing with compression fittings. I have a pair of the quick-disconnects on either side of my videocard waterblock so I can take the huge heavy thing out of the way when I need to do anything inside the case. (pics) The fittings themselves are pretty long, though.
