Compression fittings help

Did you make to sure the o-ring was in the fitting before you screwed it on? Btw, $.05 cent/ft of tygon tubing. That is an absolute steal. Too bad seems to be out of stock everywhere.
 
I believe the o-ring is on the fitting. The problem is that the tubing will literally slip off the fitting during leak testing. Perhaps the tubing is not thick enough?
 
You take the locking nut off the compression, install the barb fitting with the o-rings on the bottom to the block, then you put the locking nut of the compression over the tubing, install the tubing over the barb, then screw the locking nut back over the compression sealing the tubing in place. You should not be able to pull the tubing out of this compression with all your might.

Thanks for your help. I'm going to recut my tubing since some of the cuts aren't too clean. I will try another leak test and report back.
 
It's not really needed but you can pick up a tool for cutting it a little more square. For this I'd just cut it however you want and be careful, can always re do it if needed. If you were going to make 100 cuts I might pay 4 bucks for the tool.
 
My dad found some o rings that we placed around the tubing and the barbs. Seems to have fixed the leaking issue.
 
You really shouldn't need an o-ring around the tubing/barbs. It sounds like your problem was how clean the cut on the tubing was.
 
The cut shouldnt matter as long as the tube is over the lip...thats where the seal is. Are the compression fittings screwed all the way down? I found i couldnt get mine screwed all the way down with out a pair of pliers. If your going to use pliers, be careful and dont slip as not to scratched the fittings or anything.
 
No, I haven't tried tightening them with pliers, thanks for the suggestion, although at the moment the o-rings are working pretty well. I will keep it in mind next time I take apart my loop. :)
