hey guys, i've heard that the evga 6600gt has component out so I would be able to plug it in to my hdtv via the 3 component cables. Can any of you confirm this?

TIA

With my eVGA 7800GTX I got a S-video to Component adapter.
Much likt the one in the picture on the newegg site... mine is a bit different but you should be fine with the one they send with it.

what's the best card for hdtv? my friend wants to play WoW on his 60" sony lcd projection

You will need an adapter to conver to Component. The 6600T is perfect for HTPC. 6800GT does NOT support component out. You will have to get a transcoder to output component. The 7800GT will work but it might be a little overkill.

Don't know much about ATi but I've heard they are more HTPC friendly than nVidia. They have a DVI to component dongle you can buy on fleabay for about $15. Keep in mind, you only need a transcoder for the 6800 series. The 6600 and 7800 both support component out.

The "ASUS Radeon X850XT PE AX850XTP/HTVD/256M/A Video Card - Retail" has everything you need to output using component. No need for transcoder.

Quality is quite nice. I've used one of them with a 9600 Pro, 9700 Pro and 9800 Pro.
BTW : Don't mean to hijack the thread, but I have a spare component dongle that I'm just about put up in my FS/FT thread - the same one that's going on eBay. Please PM me if you're interested. ;)

For component out ATI's support is pretty good but NV's is also good as well (NV's support for DVI to HDTV is far better still).

But honestly if you're looking to game on an HDTV then I would suggest getting a 7800 GT, it comes with the component cable, it's a terrific gaming card and it makes for a really bitch'n HTPC video card because of it's deinterlacing abilities (always as a host of other nifty features).

But if you're stuck with AGP then this card might work nicely with his projector: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16814125179

Although I'm not too sure how it will handle WoW simple because I don't know what the projector's native res is.

the biggest issue with the 7800gt is that my friend has an agp mobo, i myself would go 7800gt no question (see sig) but he likes ati and has agp
