I cant find much information on all these pcie ssd's performance reviews. what do you guys recommend as the best option?

I have built at least a dozen high end work stations with the OCZ RevoDrive 3x2 480 gig drives in the last 2 years that are used to run SolidWorks 50 plus hours a week. All have run flawlessly with not a single hic-up. Prior machines had LSI raid cards with a pair of 240 gig SSD's (many different brands) in Raid 0 that would lose the raid configurations on a regular bases. The RevoDrives are more reliable and faster! (Make sure you buy the RevoDrive 3x2 and not the RevoDrive 3)
OCZ has been bought by Toshiba, but they state they will honor warranties on most of the current drives.
I have an OCZ Z4 PCIe drive in my own build, but that might be out of your price range.(It is even faster than the RevoDrive)
I will buy again when I need to build more workstations!!!!

What are you going to use it for? For basic consumer use, loading games, windows, surfing internet, sata 3 interface is good enough. You will not notice any speed gains unless doing more advanced stuff like photo editing, video editing, audio stuff, etc...

For this usage all of the consumer PCIe SSDs are slower than a Samsung 840 Pro. The main reason is the current crop of PCIe SSDs are really not PCIe devices at all. They are SATA SSDs + a cheap low end PCIe SATA card (that was designed for hard drives) capable of RAID0.

I can't really see the next gen Pcie ssd's being that much faster in real world usage though unless doing something with that heavy of a workload. The performance difference from Sata 2 to Sata 3 gen ssds haven't shown to be that much faster, at least other than benchmarks.

They're coming out with better and faster solutions this year. Better controllers, more capacity, and probably a lot more money. The thing is the average consumer wouldn't notice any difference between the sata and pcie ssd's.
