Comment on ATI's box art

I must say that I am quite impressed with how visually appealing ATI's box art has been since the 9700pro.

Every single "built by ATI" card I have seen over the past 3 years have always come with incredibly intriguing box art that probably took an entire visual effects team to create. Even ATI's low-end parts have some pretty amazing graphics (has anybody checked out the art for the X1300 on ATI's website?) even despite the fact that most of their budget cards are put in pre-built systems without anyone ever seeing the box.

I actually find their box art so appealing that I've used it as my desktop wallpaper on more than one occasion (and I feel that I have pretty high standards in that area).

I know you'll probably all call me superficial and say that "what's in the box is infinitely more important", but something has to be said for a company that goes that far out of their way to deliver actual ART on their packaging when the rest of the hardware industry uses generic, boring graphics.

they do it to get higher sale rating from the newbs. they see the box and turn into little teenie boppers with daddies credit card and buy the sexiest looking box. ATi profits and thank the designer's of the box.

Wow. Someone's in a nice mood.

I gotta agree with you. It's nice.

But, you know who else makes lovely box art? MSI.

I think the Sapphire box art is stupid...

I peeled the sticker off of the heatsink and I don't even have a window.

Polished aluminum is so much nicer than some wierd alien thing pretending to hold a gun.

Who is that dork/person on the box for the x1800's?
Some people were claiming it was fatal1ty, but I don't think so. Nobody gets that ripped playing computer games all day.

BTW, I liked the cool "metallic" characters more (like on the 9600 and 9800 series boxes).
