Combo Display/Keybd,MP for desktop?

[georgeh]

Sorry if this has been asked in the past but I've been searching the archives and haven't found a thread on this (though some of the threads on using Notebook displays with a desktop come close).

I'm wondering if anyone makes a laptop/notebook style combination LCD Display+Keyboard+MousePad for use with a (single) desktop(mini tower). I have no need for a true laptop computer, as I do not need portability, and I would prefer not dealing with batteries and "lap heaters". However, I would like to be able to set a user interface for a desktop on my lap as if I were using a laptop.

The closest thing I've seen are the rackmount Display/K/M units for servers. But I've not seen anything in a simple notebook-style folding case. I realize I'd still need to run cables to the desktop and for powering the Display, but I think it would still give me more freedom than using separate devices and it should be cooler than having a CPU/HD/etc on my lap.

I'm waiting for the Belkin wireless USB hub etc, basically any UWB based device. Once these are out in the market, we'll see wireless display drivers. Which means I can keep my DVD-RW, display, keyboard + mouse all on the desk while the actual machine is hidden anyway somewhere in the attic or in some storage

But till that happens, I guess we're stuck with things as they currently are ...
