So I got my 1735NXM back from NEC the other day, and after using it for a couple days, playing around with the color settings, I've come to the conclusion that it looks like absolute shit. The color balance is set up so the whole image has a very "cold" feel to it, and I get the sense that there's more blue than there needs to be. I've heard you hardcore monitor dudes yammering about calibrating the colors on your sexy new crt's, and I was wondering just how y'all went about doing it. Is there something you can maybe suggest I do, using the nView color corrections panel?

I'm definitely not "Hardcore" but have you ever tried using the Nvidia display optimization wizard in the 7x.xx drivers? I've found it to be the best for color calibration as far as freeware applications go. The "adobe gamma" application is okay, but is a little hit or miss for greens.

Change your color temperature from your monitor (default usually is 9300K) to 7500K or 6500K
