ok, I'm planning on using cold cathodes for automotive uses. I've got a few in my case now, but I'm not about to see how fragile they are.

So, do you think they'll survive inside the typical car?

I accidently pressed my hand against them and and mine broke. The first set I got broke when being shipped. They are pretty fragile

Yeah, I've broken two or three cold cathodes. On the same subject, anybody know how long they should last? I had one that lost half its brightness in a year.

I think most are 'supposed' (lol) last 3 years. Most last about 1 yr if that. They're cheap just buy a new one.

Got mine last year around November. I've had it on whenever my computer is on, which is usually 8 or more hours a day. Still going strong.

Most are soposed to last 50,000 hours, or so.

I've had mine for about a year, but i keep em off sometimes.

I've used some 12"ers in an mr2 turbo that had been autox'd and daily driven. Haven't had a problem yet, and even stock, it's not the softest suspension.

Hell, they sell cold cathodes at target in the automotive section for just that very purpose.
