COD 2 Lagging up on high res'es

I thought it might have been my omega drivers, so installed the ATI drivers but no luck.

If I try to play on either 1024x768, or 1280x1024 my game jitters all around when I move my mouse. The weird thing is that fraps is telling me that im still getting no lower than 30fps, mostly around 40's. It dosn't matter what textures, or options, vsync...anything it will just run like complete poop.

All other games run great though.

Without knowing your video card, there's 100% *no* way to diagnose the problem.

The new(er) sapphire x1900gt running with an Austin 450w power supply.

Its so strange because all the other games i've tried have played great, bf2, coh, cs, and wow.

Which DX mode are you using ingame? Use the DX7 mode, the 9 mode is a known problem.

On the other hand, the DX7 mode looks like crap compared to the DX9 mode. It makes the game look like the first Call of Duty, but with slightly more detail.

Performance problems. Game runs extremely slow in DX9 mode. This is a known issue and has never been fixed in any of the patches.

This doesn't effect everyone depending on what video card they have, etc.

It is a known issue and is the first thing suggested to fix slow perfomance and stuttering problems with COD2. Set inside the game options to DX7, I think it's in Advanced options.

i think that depends on your computer, shitty video card=shitty graphics, lol, your blaming the game for trying to run better graphics @ high resolutions on shitty video cards?

But the x1900xt is not a shitty card...

No it's not, but this guy is suggesting things for the OP to try that will hopefully make his stuttering problem cease and desist.

That does not mean that he has to run it that way or keep it there at all, but disputing that fact is stupid on these forums. The goal is to see what is causing these "stuttering" problems with his computer. If that means he has to switch the rendering mode to DX7 to try it, so be it.

I would put all the options on high and turn them down one at a time to see if that has any effect on it.

I have an X1950XTX and have NO problems playing the game at 1920x1200 with DX9 enabled, but that again is with my system.

I run a 9800pro. Not a shitty card, but not a current one either. There is a problem with COD2 and some setups where switching to DX7 mode is the only option to get a playable game. I played COD and COD2 in a clan for a few years, and the DX9 problem with COD2 was well known. The 9800pro was the fastest video card available when COD2 came out, but was not the only card affected by this. What I'm talking about is the DX rendering mode the game uses, set inside the game. I'm not talking about what version of DirectX you have on your computer.

Um, actually, when COD2 came out, the fastest video card was the 7800GTX.

Almost everyone that plays Cod2 for competition or in multiplayer uses DX7. DX9 sucks on that game....known fact.

my FX5200 ran COD2 pretty damn good in DX9 mode with medium settings, but ok, ok I see your point it might be his particular system that has the problem, try turning off certain options before making the switch to DX7

yeah, I know, DX9 was still not enough eye candy for me though, installed some slightly better models ;)
