Anyone else have the Scout? If so what did you do to take off the front plates since they are connected to the whole metal piece?

Also are there fans thin enough to mount on the door while having a tall cpu cooler like the Hyper 212?

There should be plastic clips along the inside edges that hold the front plate on. Use those to remove it and that will make it easier to access the metal plates in the 5.25" slots.

Yes there are thinner fans. Try http://www.frozencpu.com. If possible try and measure how much space you have. But honestly just do a negative pressure cooling setup and leave those spots without fans.

To do the negative pressure setup you just need to flip your PSU and other fans so that they are all exhaust fans. This will draw air in through all the mesh/holes where there are no fans to help improve the cooling.

Every system I've done with this way ends up running cooler. But you have to have a case with the mesh/holes up front, in the rear, and on the sides to achieve maximum results.
